There is something special about the early vintage Omega Seamasters that embodies the "golden era" of dive watches of the 1960s-1970s. Omega has a long history and heritage in dive watches, which date back to the 1930s. The seahorse-adorned case back of the Seamaster series pays tribute to Neptune, the Roman god of the sea. The seahorse logo was conceived by engraver Jean-Pierre Borle. He was inspired by an image of Neptune driving a chariot pulled by seahorses, which is why the Omega seahorses are depicted wearing bridles.

The reference 166.024 has a specific feeling and look that centers it as one of the most desirable vintage Omega diving watches ever produced by the brand. The bi-directional ratcheting bezel, luminous bezel insert, high visibility dial, and overall larger size for a watch of its time period allow it to remain relevant to today's sizing trends. CASE & BRACELET

The handsome twisted lug case remains in exceptional, minimally polished condition, showing crisp lines, angles, and dimensions throughout with honest signs of lighe use present. The original "Flat 1" bakelite ratcheting bezel is very well-preserved, showing no cracks but normal signs of gentle use, and features a vivid patina to the lume that matches the dial. The case back retains its original Seamster medallion, however, it has faded from wear. The original Omega 1039 stainless steel "flat-link" bracelet with 516 end pieces is long and in great condition, retaining its stretch links toward the clasp. The bracelet exhibits light stretch for its style and age, retains 25 links, and will fit up to an 8 1/4-inch wrist.

DIAL & HANDS

 The original matte black dial is in. exceptionally well-preserved condition, showing no damage or notable elements of age. The original hesalite crystal exhibits some light wear and even crazing throughout which is common for original crystals from this era, however, any mark seen in the photos is on the crystal and not the dial itself. the tritium lume plots have achieved a deep vivid yellow-orange patina and exhibit no degradation under UV light inspection, the 8 o'clock lume plot features a darker patina but does not show degradation. The original tritium sword hands have aged a shade lighter than the dial but coordinate with the overall aesthetic of the watch, under UV light inspection the hour and minute hands exhibit no degradation, and the second's hand appears to have been previously professionally stabilized and retains most of its original lume
