The world of vintage Omega is vast. It's filled with interesting and unique references, from sports models to dress watches and almost everything in between – including a few icons. 

The Omega De Ville was first introduced as a subcategory under the Seamaster name in the early '60s, until the brand saw the early success of the younger and dressier styles of the new line. In 1967, Omega made the De Ville a stand-alone product line within the Omega catalog and it remains today as one of the brand's most respected names for producing a host of unique designs.

This ref. 166.0161 is a well-rounded and handsome wristwatch from Omega, and one that works perfectly as an everyday timepiece. Featuring a 35mm case with long, slim lugs which increase the overall case size, and a classic dial layout that is both stylish and recognizable, it was originally gifted to a United States Steel employee in 1976. It has survived as a complete time capsule, in immaculate condition with a beautiful inscription on the case back commemorating the gift.

CASE & BRACELET

The stainless steel case features long, straight lugs that show light signs of use with no notable signs of being previously polished. The case retains its original Omega signed crown. The case back features an engraving that reads "United States Steel Honors, S. Paskash, for 40 years of loyal and faithful service, Apr. 1976" The watch comes supplied on a two-piece leather strap with silver tang buckle.

DIAL & HANDS

The simple silver sunburst dial gives this watch a much larger appearance than its case dimensions measure and is in exceptional vintage condition, gracefully showing its age. The thin original hands remain in excellent condition with inlaid lume that has aged to a pale green color, matching the lume plots on the dial perfectly. Under UV light inspection the lume plots on the dial exhibit consistent degradation through out while the hands display no degradation. There's a "USS" medallion added to the dial just above the 6 o'clock marker to further highlight the intent of the gift.
