Named for Italian Baroque painter Artemisia Gentileschi, these earrings honor the her strength and originality. In an era when women had few opportunities to become artists, Gentileschi was the first woman to become a member of the Accademia di Arte del Disegno in Florence and became a successful painter with an international clientele. Known for her paintings of women and her self-portraits, Gentileschi portrayed women as heroines, warriors and complex characters in their own stories.
